Matching existing floors

We often have requests to match existing lumber of some sort. This may include matching a neighbor’s floor, an image in a publication, installation of new lumber to match existing, or even the look of a current floor as it is before it’s refinished. It’s important to understand that an exact match may not be possible. This is because many factors contribute to the look of a natural wood product. Factors out of our control such as wood grain, mineral content, age, lighting, historical exposure to different environments, or previous damage can all affect the look of the floor. This also applies to matching trim or other woodwork.
